How to raise crickets (and worms)

I have two cricket boxes where I raise crickets (as hobby) – and sometimes put left over crickets that other people leave at my place. I do this in a storage building because cricket boxes stink eg don’t try this in your house. Video shows how to sex = female from male crickets Along with my worm bed – I don’t have to buy much bait to use for bream fishing (and bream fishing for catfish bait)

Do you use a compost bin inside your home? Is it easy to do?

I'm considering composting – mostly table scraps. I really don't want to use worms. If anyone out there reading this can give me some input, if you've either used worms or used the bins without worms – Does the rotting food start to smell? Will it attract flies or other unwanted pests? Does it require a lot of work and maintenance? Should I keep it outside or inside the house? If outside: does the climate matter? (I live in Northern California – it doesn't snow here). Any info would be appreciated!

I've seen bins that say they are great for apartment dwellers. They say you can store it under your kitchen sink. Anyone have experience with one like this?

We made a worm bin for doing this. There is no smell if done properly. We keep the worm bin inside, year around.

Worm Compost for Seed germination?

Can i use Verimi compost for Seed germination.
Im sowing seeds of Dianthus, Morning Glory and Putunia, along with Chilly and Tomatoes!!!
The compost looks dark balck with a lot of mositure content in it. Can i leave the Tray with the seedlings in the sun, and keep it moist until they germinate. IS Sun good for seeds? I know its good for plants and trees in common.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Worm castings are very good growing medium. I would suggest you consider mixing it with a potting soil for your seeds.
The moisture may cause mold which would kill your seedlings.
If you have have the room try a small area for just the castings and see how it goes. filtered light would be best for for germinating seeds, than introduce to direct sun gradually as the seedlings grow.

Can you compost recycled kitchen roll?

In theory – no (although you can recycle it).

I used to put a fair bit in my compost, soaked in water and shredded it does decompose but quite slowly I have to say!

You're best off putting it with your other recycling.

if I do a factory restore on my dads dell will i need to install his OS?

my dads PC has a really bad worm virus, and ive been trying everything to fix it, and it looks like im going to have to restore the PC to factory settings, however i was reading on here that if you factory restore in dells you have to reinstall the operating system , something we never got with the PC, so if i do a factory restore will i have to go out and re-buy windows for him? any help would be apreciated.
actualy it looks like it might be a trojan virus , im running a virus scan from boot to see if it gets it out.

check this out from dell’s customer care site.
I just carried out factory restore on my compaq presario700 and there was no need to reinstall the os. Moreover the partitions and data in driver other than c: drive were safe.

How is vermicomposting any better than just having a compost bin with worms in it?

I have been entertaining the idea of doing the red worm composting thing then got to thinking that I already have a compost bin with worms in it. How is it different in terms of benefits?

if you have a contained vericompost, you get to use the 'tea' and the castings where and how you wish… and you could even give or sell some….. in your compost pile, you get the same, but you can't separate it out…..

it's also not got to be so big…… a good compost pile needs to be about three ft square…. a goodly vermi- can be in a rubbermaid box that fits about anywhere!….
