Winter Cat Litter Composting Bed
Heaped up with straw, fall leaves and compostable cat litter waste, this worm bed should be relatively easy to keep warm this winter!
Back at the beginning of November I wrote about my fall clean-up efforts, and promised to provide you with an update on my outdoor cat litter composting experiment. As some of you will [...]

White Ceramic Compost Pail
http://www.cleanairgardening.com/ceramic-compost-crock.html
This white ceramic compost pail holds one gallon of material and features a charcoal filter that helps eliminate any smell. Like most compost pails, it serves the function of dropping off your kitchen scraps and then taking them to your compost pile or compost bin every few days or so. If you’re a little klutzy, you might want to consider a stainless steel or bamboo compost pail instead. Overall though, this is an excellent compost pail for your kitchen, and a wonderful addition to home composting.
For more information on this compost pail, please click the link at the top of this video description. Thank you.

From Apple Core To Black Gold – Accelerated composting
http://www.dailywebtv.com/Halton/video/13917 – The natural process that transforms organic kitchen waste into rich, dark compost is a long one in a regular backyard composter. The advanced method used at the City of Hamiltons Central Composting Facility is so efficient that after about 2 months the black gold is ready to be used to enrich soil.
There are two phases to this accelerated process. In the first phase, unwanted debris is removed from the organic waste that has been collected by Hamilton residents in their green cart and then it is ground up and loaded into one of 10 tunnels. It remains in this carefully regulated environment with ideal heat, humidity and temperature for breaking down the material for seven to 10 days.

Moistened straw plus 50 Red Worm cocoons – we are ready to roll!

Worm Inn Journal-02-23-10
Recorded a new video today, after noticing that the level in the system has dropped significantly.
A couple of important take away msgs:
1) I am NOT suggesting that anyone should attempt to overfeed a worm composting system like this – ESPECIALLY not if you are using an enclosed “Rubbermaid” type of system. This is just me [...]
