Do carp eat redworms and red wiggler worms?

It depends on the carp. Common carp do for sure, buffalo (not really carp) will. Grass carp and those new invasive asian carp like silver carp and bighead carp will not, they are vegetarian or filter feeders. Look up pictures on Google if you’re not sure which one it is.

Okay, well this is what it says

"Recipe for 1-2-3 compost box:
-Start with an open rectangular wood box that is 1 foot high, 2 feet high, and 3 feet long.
-Mix 10 pounds of shredded newspaper with 15 quarts of water, and put the mixture in the 1-2-3 box.
-Add a few handfulls of siol
-Add about 100 redworms (ABout 1 pound).

Deshondra chose composting as the topic of her science project. She plans to build a compost box at home and to keep records od the amount of siol produced over several weeks.

How much shredded paper will she need for her 2-4-6 compost box?

How many worms will she nee?

How much plywood will she need to build the box?

How many pounds of garbage will the box be able to compose in one day?"

I KNOW THAT THIS IS A LOT TO READ BUT PLEASE HELP I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS!

I’m not asking for asnwers by the way. If you’ve got them, great. But I need you to tell me HOW to do this. And please be clear when you explain. Thank you!

i am in eighth grade too. ok so a 2-4-6 compost box would just be a 1-2-3 box doubled. So double everything:
shredded paper:10 pounds x 2 =
worms: 100 x 2 =
plywood: 2 peices of plywood that are 4 feet long and 2 that are 6 feet long and 1 foot high
lbs of garbage: I am sooooooo sorry but i can’t figure out this one. Just ask your teacher b4 class.

I’m thinking of starting my own worm bin (redworms). I would like to put something together by reusing common household trash (ie food packaging, scrap wood,etc). Basically I’d like to reuse something rather than being forced to purchase something. I want this to be very very small scale (less than 1/4 pound of food waste per day) And MOST IMPORTANT…I don’t want to attract any other pest such as mice, flies, maggots, centipedes, millipedes or anything else nasty. Just want to avoid throwing perfectly good food in the landfill and maybe help keep some potted plants happy.

well if are going to open it up every day then something with a tight cover would work just fine if they had headroom/air space. I am thinking it may be the soil microbes which would be the biggest breathers. so letting the co2 exit would be optimal and that doesn’t need to be an OPEN hole..i mean maybe u could use a screen? whatever air permeable membrane u could come up with basically.

and thing is, the finished product/castings will have lots of worms in it still, so it is nice to have a bin where u can do a bit of rotation. like fresh stuff on one side so the finished stuff is not so tempting for the worms to hang out in and they will crawl out of the finished pile.

What to use for the actual bin is kind of whatever u have i would guess since worms are not discriminatory between metal, wood, plastic surfaces. water tight of course so no dripping but maybe a drain hole in case of overwatering? it’s what they recommend since accidents happen but it DOES take an awful lot of flood since worms are so mobile and can rise above it.

to avoid smells off it u can cover raw goods with soil. like a bit of plain clay dirt, sawdust or such to toss in after fresh deposits. doing that would help you keep fresh and nice while your population built up in case u start small because naked goods can attract fungi and no real way to stop that. it won’t take long to build ur population however, the texts are not kidding when they say breeding occurs quickly. two worms can become thousands in just a couple months so a small bin will populate rather quickly.

Banjo Minnow, Berkley Gulp Alive, Or Live Worms?

Many people have condemned this lure. I am 15 years old and fishing is one of my interests. I own the banjo minnow system and find nothign wrong with it. The last time i used it i hooked 3 nice sized blues. Before that i hooked some nice 5 pound bass (2 of them). So what is wrong with it? I catch about the same with live bait or fake baits such as Berkley. The live bait i usually use are bloodworms nightcrawlers and redworms. I do not use the same bait all day and i constantly change baits. So, is my best bet the banjo minnow lure berkley bait or live worms.

Just keep switching till you hit on a good combo. Seems to me like you already have. You may want to add a purple worm with duel hook weedless nose weight and propeller, and a yellow snagless sally. The number one all time killer bait of the planet is a salt water bomber long A. It is killer in brackish waters.Check out the pic below. It’s sick!

as far as fishing goes would there be a difference for me? or if theyre biting nightcrawlers theyll bite the larger redworms?

The redworms can be awful small, perhaps too small for a large hook. The Canadian Nightcrawlers are the exact opposite, they are a very big worm (like you may buy at a bait shop). A couple good mid-sized alternatives are European Nightcrawlers and African Nightcrawlers (both of which are a great size for fishing). Also both of those varieties can be grown every easily in your own compost pile so you always have a supply of worms for fishing and even good vermicompost for your garden.

Aquatic Frog Help ??

I bought an albino frog i read it was an african clawed frog but it has been 4 months and it hasnt grown at all just got a bit chubbier i feed it redworms betta pallets retomin even some frozen shrimp but it dont seem to get bigger could i be wrong on the breed or what why isnt it growing one website i was on said it would be 3-4 inches by 6 months it is the same size as i got it help please am i doing some thing wrong

Not the same but maybe helpful, my dwarf frogs didnt grow any for about 3 months and then tripled in size in a couple weeks. Maybe they have growth spurts as well.

we thought he was dead, but I felt the tiniest beat of his heart so we took him to the sink and cleaned him off and he jumped!! Now he’s back in his tank and not so jovial… he looks ’sucked up’ to me… We dont even know how he got out since the top to the tank was in place.. but I really need to know of any efforts I may take to help him survive… Oh, I have cats btw… maybe they did something?? I offered him a dip of redworms, but he didnt even ackowledge them…… my sons pretty upset… thanks for any advice!

your frog is probably dehydrated, and you need to get some food into him. mist him in his cage with water every few hours to keep him hydrated, since they dont drink water. then get some wet cat food, water it down to a fine paste and force a cricket sized amount into his mouth with a small syringe twice a day. this happened my my green tree frog, and my cats had got him. luckily, he played dead, and they got bored before they killed him, but he was so stressed he wouldnt eat. my vet told me the wet cat food thing, he said it was safe to do for a few days, and if my frog didnt perk up by then, i should start worrying. it worked almost immediately.

You think we would catch anything?

me and my friend was gonna go fishing…not in no big place at a creek beside his house…i say at the deepest point 3 feet deep…unless you go down the road to another part…they are plenty of bluegills,sunfish and even a couple catfish…ive seen them…none over 5 or 6 inches long for the catfish though…were gonna use redworms (earthworms) for bait…you think we could catch any of them (Catch and realese not eating them)?

I’d say that is a yes but I would go with a size 6 hook it’s big enough for catfish and small enough for the bluegills too. Earthworms are a fundamental bait for almost any fish!!

Try floating the worms down the creek with no weights if you can, if not get one of those split shot dispensers (usually red) at Wal-Mart and start out with one or two of the smallest ones and work your way up until you start catching fish. Sometimes it’s just a matter of getting your bait down to the fish…. I wouldn’t use anything above 8lb line…

Good luck…if you truly are going catch and release you can snip off the barb of the hooks… it will come out of their mouths easier and not tear them up.

Horse gotton suddenly thin?

I came home today and I took the rug off my horse and noticed that he had lost a lot of weight. The last time I took the rug off him was on thursday, due to the snow and frost etc. He’s eating all his food, he leaves a little hay but all the horses are and they’re all alright but he is dehydrated even though he’s drinking a bucket of water. He’s got no gunk coming out of his nose, his coat looks healthy, he seemed a little dull in the stable but when i took him out to the arena he brightened up. I lounged him for a bit to see if his breathing was normal and I couldn’t hear any raspy noises.Basically mum thinks it’s redworms and she’s going to get some treatment for it tomorrow but would that have caused such rapid weight loss and where would he have picked it up?

Sorry for the long question, I just hate it when one of my animals isn’t well.

it is most likely that your horse is suffering from an internal parasite infestation. Parasites and poor dental health are the number top reasons for weight loss in thehorse, and as he also has a decreased appetite, I would address the parasite issue immediately.

Horses should be regularly dewormed approximately every three months, depending on their environment and use, but as it has been a year or so, he is well overdue. I’d recommend using a dewormer called the panacur powerpac, which is actually a five day treatment of a double dose of dewormer called fenbendazole. The double dose is sometimes necessary to kill a type of parasite development stage called a cyathastome, or encysted larva, that resides in the small intestine. Normal dewormers can not penetrate this cyst, leaving the cyathastome the ability to hatch at will, so to speak. The presence of these cysts can contribute to weight loss even in the horse that is dewormed regularly if this product is not used.

The powerpac should be available at your local feed/supply store. Keep a close eye on him during the treatment for any signs of colic or discomfort. Fenbendazole is a very safe dewormer, however if your horse has an abnormally large load of parasites, they can sometimes cause a mild impaction, and they also release a type of toxin as they a killed, which can cause discomfort.

Should any questions arise during the treatment, or should your horse’s condition worsen in any way, you should contact your Veterinarian immediately.
