I have used alfalfa powder for fertizer. If your growing veganically, its a good source of nitrogen. If your not, then I would prefer animal manures such as bat guano, or composted chicken manure.

On a daily basis, I eat zero grains at home. If Im out at a potluck, I may eat some grains. I do once a week eat buckwheat, which is considered a grain, but really a fruit. If I had acreage, I would grow buckwheat, but due to its cost, and doesnt yield alot, it would not be feasible to grow a significant amount in a small residential space. So grow your greens and eat them in mass quantity and buy the grains, if you choose to eat them. Im not a big fan of grains.

Hey John, just wondering what type (if any) of grains you might recommend growing. I’ve been hearing lots of negative things about consuming grains (whole&refined) lately and was hoping you could shed some light on these plants that are such a huge part of the average diet. In short, how much grains do you eat daily? Once again thanks for all the videos!

John, thanks for another great vid. I have been trying to learn how to grow from seeds. Some worked well but some (like my peppers) never got past the two leaves stage. I used a homemade seed raising mix recipe that consisted of coco peat and rock dust. Why did some plants not grow any true leaves and how can I ensure a better rate of success next time? Thanks for all your awesome, entertaining and informative vids. I am applying a lot of the things I am learning to my life.

The lady who wants tree collards in Florida may be disapointed. The lack of circulation , high temperatures, and insane humidity rots them in Florida. In Florida it is better to just save seed. Tree collards are mostly grown in California where it is drier and more breezy.
