Do earthworms and compost worms work the same way for the growth of plants in soil?

also what do worms eat? do you need to keep the soil wet? please give me a good answer. hope you get the best answer and 10 points =]

Earthworms and worms work more or less same way. Earthworm move in the soil and make it porous. Porosity of the soil helps for the luxuriant root growth as it provides aeration. Worms of the compost degrade the wet biological matter and converts in simple substances. These substances can absorb more water, ratain it, making the same available for the growing plants.

Soil needs to be kept wet for the earthworm to survive. Earthworms respire through their skin. The skin can absorb the oxygen which is dissolved in water. For this purpose the skin needs to be kept wet.
